It is hard to believe that the great National Emblem is now 21 years old. A champion of his generation, National Emblem has always done everything asked of him.

A champion on the race track, National Emblem became a champion juvenile sire at stud. Now his daughters are starting to show signs of becoming successful as broodmares.

Last season, National Emblem’s daughters were represented by seven individual stakes performers.  Remarkably, all seven stakes horses were fillies.

To date, the best performers produced by National Emblem mares are the high-class fillies Lady Magpie and Oracle News. The former, a daughter of Klawervlei sire Dupont, won the G3 King’s Cup, while Oracle News was one of the top sprinters of her generation.

Oracle News, by another SA bred champion in London News, won six races including the G3 Southern Cross Stakes.

Other classy fillies produced by National Emblem mares include Ribbons For Thee, Silver Apples and the classic placed Legal Account.

National Emblem’s legacy remains strong, and his son, Rebel King, could ensure his sire’s influence is felt on the South African turf book for years to come.
