The 2009 Klawervlei golf day took place under perfect conditions at the Pearl Valley Golf Estate in the Franschhoek valley yesterday.

The day has cemented itself as a prerequisite in the build up to the J&B Met and provides Klawervlei Stud with the opportunity to express their appreciation to the racing community for their grateful support throughout the year.

A great day was had by all concerned and congratulations to Richard Taylors’ four ball who won with a magnificent score of 88 alliance stableford points.

A big thank you to Graeme Hawkins, Mike Bass, Joey Ramsdon and Sean Tarry who made up the panel for a very interesting and entertaining J&B Met discussion and of course our deepest gratitude to Steinhoff, BBR Bloodstock, Old Mutual, Lexus, Magic Millions and Inglis for their kind sponsorship. Without them, this day would not be possible.

Furthermore, a special word of thanks to Ken Truter who put up the highest bid of R110 000 for the racing career of our Dahlias Legacy filly which went up for auction. The yearling, who is by the Klawervlei resident stallion Requiem, will be trained by Joey Ramsden who kindly contributed her entire training career at no charge. All proceeds will be donated to Operation Hope and the National Horse Trust.
