Outstanding sprinter ,Seventh Rock, has been retired to Klawervlei Stud to commence his stud career.

An Aus $ 1,025,000 yearling,  Seventh Rock was as good a looking yearling as you would see anywhere in the world.

Sent into training with Charles Laird, from nine South African starts, Seventh Rock won 6, was placed 2nd twice and ran 3rd once.

Seventh Rock made an impressive debut when scooting home by 2.5 lengths. He duly followed that win up with a good second in the Gr2 The Nursery, before downing champion, Argonaut, in the Gr1 Gold Medallion.

After reeling off back to back wins, Seventh Rock thrashed a top class field in the Gr3 Tommy Hotspur Handicap. The colt simply powered away to win by 3.5 lengths - an impressive display in a blistering time of 56.22 over 1000 meters. He then ended his South African campaign with a good third in the Gr1 Computaform Sprint, a race run in conditions that did not suit him

One of the finest sprinters of his time, Seventh Rock has all the attributes required to make a top sire.

He raced with Gr1 success against the fastest horses of his generation in blisteringly fast times.

As handsome as they come, he is a big, black, powerful stallion with perfect balance and immense presence and quality

Seventh Rock has a blue blooded pedigree. He is by 2002 World Champion racehorse and the winner of 7 consecutive Gr 1 races, Rock of Gibraltar. He  the sire of 50 stakes winners to date, world wide.

His dam, Ruby Clipper, was one of the fastest fillies ever to race in South Africa. She won 10 races including the Gr1 Allan Robertson Fillies Futurity. She was voted Champion Sprinter, is a daughter of champion and top sire Rubiton and her dam is a Gr1 winner !

Other top sprinters to have become important sires locally include Captain Al, Jallad, Jet Master and Harry Hotspur.

Seventh Rock will receive a good book of serious mares in 2010.
