Our website www.freemanstallions.co.za has been updated and is worth a visit. You can look at the racing careers of our new sires on video – just click on the button. Review these stallions race records, progeny record, pedigrees and photo galleries. We know from the website counter how many hits are made on each sires profiles – no secrets there. All highly predictable – the sires most in the news get the most hits – these amount to thousands this year and many from overseas.

We are truly blessed with the most exciting group of stallions ever assembled under one management team in the history of breeding in SA. We thank the breeders that have booked over 790 mares to our stallions this season. We have Champion Sires at the top end of the scale and others that some racing folk might term “bread and butter sires”. Thankfully even our lower order sires are better than the average. Everyone likes to try and find a cheapie at the sales and these mostly come from the “bread and butter” ranks. As a buyer at the sales I always have my “cheapies” marked in case one of them is going at the right price – not what breeders want to hear but someone has to cater to that end of the market – some have been very fortunate at this level. These lower order sires still get their share of support. Consider how well Badger's Drift did to get Ivory Trail who beat Pocket Power in the GR 1 Champions Cup and to prove that was not fluke he broke a 37 year old record.

So we consider ourselves very lucky to have so many fantastic sires at the top end and 3 new champion racehorses to add this year. We thought we’d share this update with you. If you have not yet made up your mind about mating a mare this season, it’s not too late to talk to us about a deal to any of our sires (other than those marked book full below):-

Everyone’s favourite is CAPTAIN AL, he is the hottest thing in town, he has now also hit the international sire list in extremely august company. The latest edition of Pacemaker, Owner & Breeder magazine (Sept 2009 – Page 82 – see extract below) has Captain Al coupled at joint 9th with Pivotal, Tapit, Zabeel, O’Reilly, Montjeu etc - as Leading Global Sires by Stakes Winners. Book full.

Equus award winning sire of 2006,COUNT DUBOIS is set to make a massive come back this season. The crop that he sold so well at the sales this year start racing for him  soon and he will follow those up with an even better crop on that are on sale next year and another the year after of the foals being born this year. I can’t wait to see the R2m colt in action as well as the other 10 top lots that averaged R610 000 on the sale.

DYNASTY is making his supporters proud too – he was 2nd leading freshman sire last season and is currently ahead of all of last seasons freshman sires by a country mile right now. He’s even staking a claim against the older sires on various other statistics. He is 6th leading sire of 3yo’s by stakes and joint 5th by number of 3yo winners with some formidable sires on the list behind him. Of course it’s too early in the season to call but right now he has done nothing wrong. He gets top score for future promise. Book full.

JALLAD was once again in the top 3 on the general log last season. He has not been out of the top 4 in the past 10 years and during this time he was Champion Sire, twice the runner up and 3rd twice. His progeny make him an evergreen on the track and now his daughters are firing as well – already the damsire of a Gr1 winner.

There is an old adage that says something like this; “no man ever committed suicide with an unraced 2yo in the barn”  - we feel the same way about our new stallions and we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have added ARGONAUT, JAY PEG AND REBEL KING  to the menu:-

All of the 3 new sires have got their first mares in foal and are very well supported. Argonaut can still take a few mares but Jay Peg and Rebel King are fully booked.
