National Emblem has certainly made a name for himself as a sire of fast horses.
His daughter Emblem of Liberty (below; bred by D Cohen & Sons) showed herself to be a top-notch speedster, when victorious in the Listed Swallow Stakes. Running against a good bunch of fillies, the Geoff Woodruff trained filly made it 2 wins from just 3 starts by producing a fine turn of foot to outclass her opposition for owners Mrs L Cheyne & Mr LI Cohen. The 2nd and 4th placed fillies have both subsequently won, so the form looks very strong.
Emblem of Liberty is a beautifully bred, being out of the Kendor mare Dafka. Dafka is a half-sister to the top galloper Approach The Bench. Sierra Lily (bred by Danika Stud) is another daughter of National Emblem to catch the eye during the last month. The juvenile filly made an impressive winning debut over 1000 meters to defeat fellow first timer Legal Lady by a comfortable 2.5 lengths. Mr FH McGrath's filly will certainly have great paddock value when she retires to stud, being a member of the famous Lily family. Trained by Alan Greeff, Sierra Lily should have plenty more wins in the tank. Glamour Scene (bred by Rathmor Stud) is another of National Emblem's offspring to possess plenty of speed and pace. Owned and traine by LJG Werner, he showed his customary toe to hold off a host of challenges over the Greyville 1000 meter course.
