Outstanding sprinter ,Seventh Rock, has been retired to Klawervlei Stud to commence his stud career. An Aus $ 1,025,000 yearling, Seventh Rock was as good a looking yearling as you would see anywhere in the world. Sent into training with Charles Laird, from nine South African starts, Seventh Rock won 6, was placed 2nd twice and ran 3rd once. Seventh Rock made an impressive debut when scooting home by 2.5 lengths.

Outstanding sire, Captain Al, was represented by a number of promising young prospects last month. His son, Captain’s Secret, won the first feature race of the Cape’s season, the Sophomore Sprint, in grand fashion.

The annual Cape breeders and WPOTA awards ceremony took place at Kenilworth Racecourse last night.The black tie affair honours horses and horseman of South Africa’s Western Cape racing and breeding chapter. The awards themselves yielded no surprises from that of the national equivalent.

The Thoroughbred Group announced in Cape Town today that Jay Peg, a son of Camden Park out of Al Mufti mare Laptop Lady, will be syndicated for stud duties at Klawervlei Stud near Bonnievale in the Western Cape.
